   Reinterpreting Tradition Through Contemporary Design

Located in the central area of Plaza No.1 at Zigong Colored Lantern World, Blessings and Prosperity rises nearly 30 meters high. The installation takes the traditional Chinese gourd as its core form—a symbol long associated with fortune, prosperity, and harmony. Haitian Culture reimagined this familiar motif through a modern structure in gold and red, detailed with cloisonné-inspired decorative patterns.

Unlike conventional lantern displays, the installation includes a walk-in interior space. Visitors can enter the lantern and interact with illuminated “Fu” (blessing) characters, triggering changes in light and shadow that symbolize the act of receiving good fortune. Subtle flowing light effects across the exterior add movement and depth, creating an experience that blends traditional symbolism with interactive technology.

   International Attention and Media Recognition

At the opening of the festival, consular officials from 13 countries, including Spain, Austria, Brazil, and Vietnam, toured the lantern displays and expressed appreciation for the creativity and cultural depth of Zigong lantern art. Their visit reflected the festival’s growing role as a platform for international cultural exchange.

The China Daily feature further placed Blessings and Prosperity among the most representative works of this year’s exhibition. Being selected for coverage from a large number of high-quality installations points to Haitian an Culture’s strength in design execution, production capability, and cultural storytelling.

A Lantern That Represents Both a City and a Brand

Over time, the Zigong Lantern Festival has grown from a local folk tradition into a key driver of cultural tourism and the creative industry. Today, lantern enterprises from Zigong deliver projects to more than 80 countries and regions worldwide, shaping the global presence of Chinese lantern art.

Within this context, Blessings and Prosperity stands as a clear example of how traditional Chinese culture can be presented in a way that resonates with international audiences. More than a visual landmark, the work reflects Haitian Culture’s ongoing commitment to craftsmanship, innovation, and cross-cultural expression.
