Why did we launch the tinsel animal lantern project?
Our client for this project is a professional zoo. The park aimed to create exclusive animal-themed light landscapes to enrich visitor experiences, catering to daytime sightseeing, family recreation and nighttime tourism revenue growth.
Rooted in century-old traditional lantern frame craft, we upgraded the outer decorative material and launched a full series of 3D animal lanterns wrapped in metallic tinsel.The large tiger lantern shown in the picture is our flagship product. We also developed fish, monkey, sloth, jellyfish and other distinctive models, with a total of 23 unique shape designs that can be distributed across different zones of the zoo.
What innovative manufacturing techniques are adopted for this lantern set?
Internal Structure: Authentic Traditional Lantern Craft
The internal framework follows classic Zigong lantern production standards. We weld steel frames to form full animal silhouettes, refine facial and body details with hand-shaped iron wires, and embed low-voltage waterproof LED strips with tidy internal wiring.The anti-corrosion, anti-deformation frame structure is sturdy enough for long-term outdoor display, and customized oversized animal sculptures are available upon request.
Innovative Exterior: Metallic Tinsel Garland Covering
The core innovation of this lantern line is replacing traditional fabric covering with shiny metallic decorative strips, namely metallic tinsel garland.Made of PET aluminized reflective filaments in brown, gold, silver, iridescent and transparent colors, the tinsel can perfectly match the appearance of various animals. LED strips are wrapped inside the fluffy tinsel to deliver soft, glare-free light diffusion.
Most importantly, it realizes day-and-night dual landscapes: the reflective filaments look vivid as standalone landscape sculptures under natural daylight, while the whole body glimmers with flowing light after dark.

They can be placed separately in different exhibition zones to form a dedicated animal light route and boost evening visitor volume. The fluffy tinsel texture also highly restores animal fur, fish scales and jellyfish tentacles, blending harmoniously with the zoo’s ecological environment for both decoration and science popularization.
